The Deterra® Drug Deactivation System is an independently tested, safe and environmentally sound solution to permanently deactivating, destroying and disposing of unneeded pills, patches, liquids, creams and films at-home and in clinical and public settings.
The process is powered by proprietary MAT12® Molecular Adsorption Technology which deactivates medications using activated carbon. The carbon used is organic, chemical free and safe for disposal in normal trash.
Once the pharmaceuticals are placed in the pouch, warm water is then added, which dissolves the inner pod releasing the activated carbon. The warm water will also help dissolve pills and draw the drugs out of patches.
