The Optec® 5500 is an automatic screener, which utilizes a wired handheld remote control and a small motor to rotate the internal slide drum. These screeners have a durable ABS plastic shell which is lightweight, washable, and scratch resistant. The light source is provided by LED lights, which have a conservative life expectancy of 20 years. Slides are easily changed without the need for tools via a door on the back of the unit. The unit requires the testee to depress a button with their forehead to activate the lights; however, an optional headrest clip is available (item #83880), which will keep the lights on regardless of the patient’s position. In addition to the integrated handle built into the top of each model to facilitate easy transport, all Optec® 5500 units will come with a newly designed rolling carrying case (item #32269). The lightness of the unit itself combined with the ease of use and mobility of the new carrying case make the Optec® 5500 extremely easy to move from one location to another. The rolling carrying case will also fit the older Optec® 2000 as well as Titmus®OV- 7 models.
